PUBG Mobile and PUBG Lite game were among the most notable names among the 118 apps recently banned in India, and they’ve been removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store after the ban in India. South Korean-based PUBG Corporation had recently cut its all ties with Chinese tech giant Tencent as the publisher of PUBG Mobile & PUBG Mobile Lite in India and said that its closely working with the Indian government & authorities; both these moves show the banned gaming apps may make a comeback soon. Now, according to a report from Business Line, PUBG Corporation is in talks with Reliance Jio for the distribution of PUBG Mobile & PUBG Mobile Lite in India. To recall, PUBG Corporation already had announced a partnership with Reliance Jio in 2019 that allowed Jio users who register for PUBG Lite to get rewards for purchasing in-game merchandise, so both brands already have a good history of working well together.

A source said, “The talks are in an early stage, which began just after the government’s bans on PUBG Mobile & PUBG Mobile Lite. Officials from each side are figuring out the contours of the way to structure various aspects of the deal.” Another anonymous source cited within the report claims profit share and localization details are currently being discussed. “Legal experts from each side are exploring possibilities on how revenues should be split, whether it’d be half: half or Jio guaranteeing PUBG Corporation revenues supported a set number of users monthly,” added source.

PUBG Mobile & PUBG Mobile Lite has more than 200 million downloads in India alone, which is 25% of its worldwide install base. With Jio as a partner, PUBG Corporation may just circumvent the ban successfully and once again reach its more than 200 million users.
